Why is recording free?
Because it costs us nothing. Vlocalhost transcribes and summarises on your own machine — there is no server doing the work, so there is no bill to pass on. Paid tiers exist for the things that genuinely cost something to build and support: integrations, teams, and deployment.
Do you ever see my meetings?
No. There is no backend to see them with. Audio, transcripts and notes are written to your disk and stay there. The app has no telemetry and no crash-reporting endpoint — if you want us to see a diagnostic report, you send it yourself.
What happens to my notes if I stop paying?
Nothing. They are files on your disk in Markdown and plain text, not rows in our database. Solo keeps working, and everything you already recorded stays exactly where it is.
Is there a trial for Pro?
Pro is not released yet. When it is, Solo remains free permanently rather than expiring into a paywall — the free tier is the product, not a demo.
Can I use my own model?
On Solo you can point WHISPER_MODEL at any faster-whisper model or a local folder. Pro adds a supported path for custom engines and the larger tuned models.
